A chance to give back to the community I now call home

Few things are more rewarding than being able to make a difference by giving back to your community. That’s why I am so honored to have been selected to the World Affairs Council of Atlanta board of directors.

For the past 5 years I have had the privilege of serving on the board for the World Affairs Council of Connecticut where I was involved with many of the Council’s incredible events, such as hosting ambassadors from almost two dozen nations and organizing programs for students.

After relocating to Atlanta a year ago, I knew I wanted to continue my involvement with this incredible organization if possible once my family and I were settled into our new home.

When Megan Torrey, CEO of the Connecticut Council, introduced me to Ambassador Charles Shapiro, president of the Atlanta Council, I was even more convinced it was something I needed to do.

Of course, involvement with the Council is a tremendous opportunity to meet and work with some of the area’s brightest minds. But the impact goes far beyond networking.

Members of the World Affairs Council have an opportunity to inspire and support Atlanta’s position as a global leader in a variety of important areas like health, business, the environment, education, personal liberty, international relations and more.

We accomplish this mission through programs, forums and other activities that create the opportunity for dialogue with representatives of many diverse viewpoints.

I look forward to sharing my experiences in helping to fight hunger and health concerns in Pakistan and addressing other local and global issues through our non-profit organization.

But more than anything, I look forward to getting to know and learning from the incredibly dynamic group of leaders that make up my new hometown. And in the process, perhaps in some small ways I can begin giving back to our greater Atlanta community and help support both our current and future generations.
