We are always looking to support organizations that can help us advance our mission. We are open to new ideas and we invite you to submit yours through our application form.

Before submitting your idea, we suggest you read about our grants process and familiarize yourself with our areas of interest. As much as possible we try to support local charities and organizations.

Grant Seekers

In addition to our focus areas, the Foundation supports additional, unique projects that improve lives and which Tariq and Asma Farid have a special passion.
The Foundation Board may at any time in its discretion make grants to deserving and qualified recipients on its initiative, not inconsistent with the Guidelines, and subject to further terms and conditions as the Board deems appropriate.

    Speak with Tariq & Asma Farid Foundation Staff

    When you speak with Tariq & Asma Farid Foundation staff, we can determine if your program or project is a good fit within our mission and funding priorities and whether it makes sense to apply. We know your time is limited and we’d rather provide guidance upfront before you spend time completing an application! We can also answer any questions you may have about the application process. Please note that approval to apply does not in any way guarantee funding.

    Once you’ve spoken with Foundation staff and received approval to apply, you can download and complete this fillable form. Be sure to include the supporting documents requested on the application when you send it in.

If you have previously received a grant from the Tariq & Asma Farid Foundation, you must also submit a Final Report before a new grant will be considered.

Who We Support

Organizations and Programs That We Support

The Tariq & Asma Farid Foundation supports organizations and programs that directly benefit individuals in need. In general, we prefer to fund specific programs, and direct, tangible assistance, rather than equipment or general operating support. The Foundation prefers to fund organizations that primarily serve residents in Connecticut as well as around the world. Organizations funded by the Tariq & Asma Farid Foundation must be tax-exempt under IRS code section 501(c)3.

Activities We DO NOT Support

The Tariq & Asma Farid Foundation does not make grants to support the following:
  • Political campaigns, including lobbying or activities influencing the outcome of legislative or electoral process
  • Deficit spending or debt liquidation
  • Endowments or capital campaigns
  • Feasibility studies
  • Team sponsorship or individual sports people

Grant Review & Awards Schedule

We review grant requests on a quarterly schedule (noted below). One copy of the completed grant application form, with an original signature and all supporting documents, must be received or postmarked by 5:00 p.m. EST on the deadline date to be considered for that quarter. When the deadline falls on a Saturday, Sunday or holiday, the deadline will be extended to 5:00 p.m. EST on the next business day. Requests received after the quarterly deadline will be deferred to the next review cycle.
Completed applications received by March 31 will be reviewed in June
Completed applications received by June 30 will be reviewed in September
Completed applications received by September 30 will be reviewed in December
Completed applications received by December 31 will be reviewed in March

Online Grant Application

We support Non-profit organizations with IRS 501(c) (3) status. In general, we prefer to fund specific programs, but we will consider requests for capital projects.
